Q. Is GreenTerpene® open to the public?

A. Yes, GreenTerpene® is open to the public. Household and institutional users alike may purchase GreenTerpene® Cleaning Products directly from our website GreenTerpene.com

Q. What is
GreenTerpene® d-Limonene?

A. When pressing an orange for juice, some orange oil is also expelled. The GreenTerpene® Orange Oil is then purified to produce GreenTerpene® Food Grade & High Purity d-Limonene.

GreenTerpene® Cold Pressed Orange Oil contains a between 90.0% to 95.0% d-Limonene. GreenTerpene®  Food Grade d-Limonene contains a minimum of 95% d-Limonene and GreenTerpene® High Purity d-Limonene contains a minimum of 98.5% d-Limonene. It may not sound like much, but 3.5% makes for a much more effective cleaner and is even necessary in some situations.

Q. What does natural mean? Are GreenTerpene® products 100% natural?

A. Currently, there is no industry standard definition for natural cleaners. Our goal in developing the entire line of GreenTerpene® natural cleaners is to use only materials that are renewable and efficacious. That’s why our d-Limonene is extracted solely from domestic Florida oranges. And since it's 100% natural, it's better for the environment too.

Q. Do GreenTerpene® products disinfect?

A. Not yet. But our scientists are focused on evaluating the disinfecting power of natural ingredients. We hope to incorporate disinfecting claims into GreenTerpene® products in the future.

Q. What's the difference between GreenTerpene® Cold Pressed Orange Oil and GreenTerpene® Food Grade or High Purity d-Limonene?

A. The difference between Cold Pressed Orange Oil and Food Grade or High Purity d-Limonene is the level of processing, and ultimately, their d-Limonene content. During orange juice extraction, Orange oil is the first product extracted from the orange peel, then Food Grade & High Purity d-Limonene are extracted from the Orange Oil.

Q. What is the difference between GreenTerpene® Food Grade and High Purity d-Limonene?

A. Once extracted, the Food Grade d-Limonene contains a minimum of 95.0% d-Limonene. Then it is further  purified by high vacuum distillation to produce high purity d-Limonene, which contains a minimum of 98.5% d-Limonene. It may not sound like much, but 3.5% makes for a much more effective cleaner and is even necessary in some situations.

Q. Is d-Limonene safe to use around children? Should special considerations be taken for infants and children?

A. At this time, there is no concern for potential sensitivity to infants and children.  Based on the data from the study reviewed in the RED (EPA, 1994) and the various teratogenicity and embryotoxicity studies reviewed in the WHO study (1998), it is now again concluded that limonene is not a developmental toxicant. Therefore, a safety factor analysis has not been used to assess the risk.  For the same reason, the additional tenfold safety factor is unnecessary, and has been removed. [EPA]

Q. What is Technical Grade d-Limonene? Does GreenTerpene® sell Technical Grade d-Limonene?

A. Technical Grade d-Limonene and GreenTerpene® Food Grade or High Purity d-Limonene vary immensely. Technical Grade d-Limonene is produced by steam distilling a puree of spent orange peels (peels that have already had Orange Oil and d-Limonene extracted from them) and water. (See diagram below) Technical grade d-Limonene is often un-standardized and therefore d-Limonene contents may vary from 60%-90% d-Limonene. Technical Grade d-Limonene can at times also have a stale or foul smell, and may vary in color from pale-yellow to yellow to amber-yellow (Gardner Color). As a result, GreenTerpene® does not to offer technical grade d-Limonene.
